Festivals of CHT

Festivals for the peoples of Chittagong Hill Tracts, carry a wide range of observation because of a huge number of different cast presence in this region. The festivals can be noted as follows;

1) Biju Festival.
2) Sangrai Festival
3) Raj Pungya in Bandarban
4) Raj Pungya in Rangamati
5) Kathin Chibor Dana( Religous festival)
6) Boishakhi Purnima
7) Modhu Purnima
8) Bhu Chakra Utshav
9) Durga Puja observed by the Hindus
10) EID observed by the Majority Bangalee People.
11) Christ Mass
and many more festivals in different occasion are observed.

Peoples of CHT

There are Bangalee and 11 other different indigenous peoples living throughout the region of CHT. Some important information about the peoples of CHT given below in details.





* Chakma Community: Chakma Community is the largest community of all in CHT. The population  of this community is around 4 Lac. They are Buddhist religion and have their own linguistic alphabet .
* Marma Community: Marma Community is the second largest community of all communities in CHT. The population of this community is around 3 Lac. They are Buddhist religion and follow the Burmese alphabet.
* Tripura Community: The population of Tripura community is less in Bangladesh than the number of population in India. In CHT as well as in whole Bangladesh the population is around 1 Lac 50 Thousand. They are generally Hindu religion but some are found Buddhist and some other Christian.
* Tanchangya Community: Tanchangya Community is found in three different districts of CHT such as Rangamati, Bandarban and Cox's Bazar and the population is around 1 Lac 10 Thousand. They are truly Buddhist religion and possesses Mongolion Face. They have their linguistic alphabet.
* Murong Community: Population-45 Thousand(around)
* Bawm Community: Population-15 Thousand (around)
*Khuki Community:  Population -2500 (around)
* Pankhua Community: Population-10 Thousand (around)
* Khyang Community:  Population- 3000( around)
* Lusai Community: Population- 1500 ( around)
* Chak Community: Population- 3500(around)
